I am very passionate about visual impairment, female reproductive & maternal health including blood donation advocacy.I am involved in departmental blood donation events as a campaign leader; mobilizing the hospital staff and general public to donate blood and increase blood reserves. This exercise is meant to encourage readiness in the department in case of postpartum hemorrhages (mothers losing blood post-delivery), and in patients experiencing any form of blood loss e.g. in. relation to menstrual cycle problems, pregnancy, fibroids or cancer related problems leading to low blood levels, to easily be transfused and reduce the burden of unexpected preventable deaths. I take joy in teaching about general female reproductive and maternal health issues or conditions in person and through different social media platforms highlighting the need for all individuals to fully uptake the responsibility to understand their bodies and act as needed. I also work hand in hand with different schools to encourage early visual screening and identify children with visual impairment especially the less privileged and children living with albinism mobilizing acquisition of spectacles. This is done through attaining prescriptions and fully funding the spectacles from my personal salary and I am currently making strides to attract as many stakeholders as possible to the cause. I believe this platform will help reach me increase reach of my project and enable me to raise funds for this course, spread more knowledge for mothers to invest in early visual screenings and every individual to aware of their blood group and donate blood regularly (every 3 months for men and every 4 months for women) thus saving lives. Reminder: our health remains our priority and together we can achieve more growth globally and improve our health status.
