<p>I dream of a world where we can leave our homes and breathe fresh air, where we can play in the canals and drink the water from the rivers. But most importantly, I dream of an equilibrium where all living beings on this planet can live together compassionately and sustainably.</p>
<h2>MAKING SUSTAINABILITY SEXY</h2>
<p>Hi, everyone. I'm Maria Lynn, former Miss Universe, Thailand. I'm an actress, singer and model. I'm a co-founder of social enterprise S.O.S. Earth, Ambassador for Food Systems of World Animal Protection and I am currently exploring insect based protein.</p>
<p>I am the last born of three, but I grew up quite alone because my brothers left for university when I was quite young. This might have been the big reason why my mom sent me off to do a lot of activities.</p>
<p>Also, my dad was very adventurous. He took me on a lot of adventures. When I was only 11 years old, he made me do a scuba diving course with him to get licensed for open water diving.</p>
<p>But as a youngster, I was someone who was totally afraid of the wild. When I went into the forest, I was scared of everything. When I went diving, I was also scared of everything.</p>
<p>I didn't realize how lucky I was until now, and I'm super grateful that I had the opportunity to experience all of these things. My dad took me on all these adventures and I got to experience so much of nature. Today, those experiences are always at the back of my mind.</p>
<h2>SPARKING A PASSION FOR THE ENVIRONMENT</h2>
<p>The thing that inspired my passion for the environment was university.</p>
<p>When I went for my first year abroad, I studied in the Netherlands and we would walk to school every day. We would bike, we would spend time in parks and this is when I really started caring about what being outside was like.</p>
<p>When I came back to visit Thailand, I realized we couldn't spend that much time outside in Bangkok. There were so many cars, so much pollution. Time was spent in department stores and I felt like this wasn't right. This didn't feel natural to me.</p>
<p>Three years after that, when I was 24, a lot of things started happening to my health and I realized that this was caused from the pollution that was outside, from the food that was filled with chemicals and not clean, and from my own lifestyle that was quite unhealthy as well.</p>
<p>And when my mom's health, someone that I loved, was starting to get affected as well from the pollution, from things that were outside, this is when I realized that something needs to change in order to protect our environment, not just for myself, but for the people that I love.</p>
<h2>THAILAND'S CONNECTION WITH NATURE</h2>
<p>I think in Thailand, we actually have a lot of people who are still very connected with nature. We have a lot of wisdom about the forest, about ancient herbs or medicines, and even Buddhism that actually has a big foundation within and from nature.</p>
<p>For example, how a forest fire in one area comes from the fact that we eat meat in another. Or the fact that holding a cloth bag isn't what's going to save the environment. Or how all of us actually have a role to play. Even businesses in how trash ends up in landfill.</p>
<p>We still have a lot to learn about the connectedness of everything, and this is something that should be very easy because in Thailand we actually have beautiful nature, we have great national parks.</p>
<p>Generally, Thai people really care, but we might have been swayed along the lines to live in a more consumerist society, a more materialistic society, which has made us end up here today.</p>
<h2>SOS EARTH ENVIRONMENTAL PROJECTS</h2>
<p>So some of the projects that SOS Earth has been involved in, ranges from air pollution to forest fires to waste segregation, trash in our canals and biodiversity. It&rsquo;s so diverse because the environment is really everything around us.</p>
<p>We started off with a more problem-based mindset; here is the problem, how do we fix it? There's this environmental issue here, what do we do? But we soon realized that this is a really tough approach as no one wants to consume negative news. There's already so many bad things happening in the news today. So we switched our mindset to something more solution-based.</p>
<p>These days we're really focused on finding the solutions that are out there. We present that to the Thai people and see who wants to come help us, who wants to help fund a certain cause or who wants to help a certain cause in a different area. And there's really something for everyone.</p>
<p>The most recent thing that we've taken part in is really pushing for cleaner air. Air pollution is a silent killer, and it's something that's really affecting a lot of people that we love and our society as a whole.</p>
<p>We've managed to fund over 150 schools in the northern region with air filters. The reason we have to provide these nurseries with air filters is because the kids spend their time at the schools, 8 to 9 hours a day, five days a week. Inhaling the fumes from air pollution (PM 2.5), has a really negative impact on their health, and also a negative impact on their IQ.</p>
<p>While we're still pushing and helping organizations such as Thailand Clean Air Network, to push through the Clean Air Act, we also have to do something now. So that's where the air filters came in, to provide these kids with air filters and cleaner air in their schools for five days a week.</p>
<h2>5 STEPS TO GET STARTED WITH SUSTAINABILITY: <br />BE THE CHANGE</h2>
<p>So here are my five key takeaways for you to find your path to sustainability and how to drive it in society. There really are so many solutions out there that you can play a role in. So here's how you can play a role.</p>
<h3>WHAT ARE YOUR PASSIONS?</h3>
<p>The first key takeaway involves drawing a Venn diagram of three circles.</p>
<p>The first circle, I would like you to draw and ask yourself, what are your passions? For example, for me in this circle, my passions would include singing, dancing, exploring eco-friendly fashion, going to art exhibitions, meeting friends, watching movies, and reading random things about physics. The list goes on.</p>
<p>Write down your passions in this first circle.</p>
<h3>WHAT ARE YOU GOOD AT?</h3>
<p>So the second key takeaway is to ask yourself what you&rsquo;re good at and to list these in the second circle.</p>
<p>For me, I'm good at connecting, I'm good at bringing people together. So really ask yourself, what are your qualities that you really shine at? What are your strengths? Think about the subjects at school that you were good at or the things that you are frequently complimented on.</p>
<p>Write these down in the circle.</p>
<h3>IDENTIFY THE PROBLEMS AND SOLUTIONS</h3>
<p>Our third key takeaway is to identify both the problems and possible solutions which is our third and final circle.</p>
<p>First, write down all the problems that you know that are out there and the solutions. There are so many things that are happening in our environment today; flooding, forest fires, air pollution and on wards.</p>
<p>Next, figure out what the possible solutions could be to alleviate or even solve these problems. What organizations that you know of that helps the certain causes that you care about?</p>
<p>For example, if you care about animals, there's the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). If you care about water, what organizations work with water pollution? Look around for existing solutions. There are so many technologies today. Just go onto Google and find out what solutions exist and write them down in this circle.</p>
<h4>Maria Lynn&rsquo;s Sustainability Venn Diagram</h4>
<p>So to give you a clear picture. Let's talk about the center point of my Venn diagram. One of my strengths is connecting people and one thing that I am passionate about is eco-friendly fashion. One of the possible solutions then, is creating art from marine plastics.</p>
<h3>TAKE ACTION</h3>
<p>The fourth key takeaway is to look at the center of the Venn diagram where everything intersects and to define what goes in there.</p>
<p>Your strengths may be graphic design or organizing events for example and you may have outlined solutions to tackle air pollution. Your passions might have been about fashion. So how can you take action and be the change by contributing to the solutions? How can you incorporate the things that you love, your passions, and the things that you're good at to help the organizations and causes that really need help?</p>
<p>I think all organizations and environmentals causes need help in one way or another and there is something to inspire everyone. If you have time, you can contribute your time by volunteering for example. If you are good with computers, you can do work for a certain organization or if you simply just want to donate, that also can help too.</p>
<p>I really think that the path to sustainability and environmental protection has something to inspire everyone; you just have to find your way. Ask yourself over and over again what your passions are, what inspires you to help and what you want to see change in this world. Put them into the Venn diagram and find out what is in the core.</p>
<p>Once you have discovered what you love and how you can spark change, you will find that you will develop energy and passion to be the change that makes a difference.</p>
<h3>FIND YOURSELF IN FAILURE</h3>
<p>My fifth and last key takeaway involves being able to accept failure and starting with yourself.</p>
<p>Being able to live more sustainably isn't just about your own life. It's about having a positive impact on the lives of those around you and inspiring change to make the world better. So the changes are big and this can seem overwhelming.</p>
<p>So when you do start with yourself, whether it be the clothes you wear or the food that you eat, or how you go to work, don't be too hard on yourself. Accept that you will fail.</p>
<p>For example, when I started on my path to become a vegetarian, I failed a lot and I blamed myself. I felt that the path I was taking wasn't aligned with my values and I was really hard on myself.</p>
<p>But I tried and knowing that I was trying and making a big effort, gave me the courage to keep on going and not give up. As you keep trying, as you keep doing, you'll find more people who are also on the same path as you.</p>
<p>I think sustainability has become a really big trend today and everyone wants to do good. Everyone wants to live in peace with the environment. The more people that you can share your experiences with and the more you fail, the more stories you will have to tell.</p>
<p>So just try, fail and then try again and that's the best you can really do.</p>
<h2>SUSTAINABILITY IS SEXY</h2>
<p>The conclusion I'd have to end with is that sustainability is sexy. We have to live our lives to the fullest whilst also thinking about tomorrow. We can&rsquo;t just think about today and our personal future. We all need clean water to drink, clean food to eat, even enough food to eat, and clean air to breathe.</p>
<p>Change really needs to happen now in order for us to live sustainably. We all have a part to play, as a whole, and the speed that these changes can happen depends on each of us playing our part.</p>

<p>COVID-19 has completely changed the world. The question is how we can adapt to create work that is impactful, to take care of ourselves, our colleagues, our jobs and how to work happily.</p>
<p>Hello, I'm Rut. Anontawong Marukpitak,<br />Head of People at LINE MAN Wongnai.</p>
<p>The world of work is divided into 2 worlds; the old and the new worlds of work. The old world is traditional, working in the office from 9-6, growing and developing your career. The new world, on the other hand, is technology-led. It&rsquo;s the world of e-commerce that grows and changes exponentially.</p>
<p>The two worlds are different. The old world is comfy with good work life balance. You can continue and you can go on but with little payoff, not very high income. But in the new world, It is tough and unforgiving. The workload is very high, but the payoff in terms of learning and earning are potentially far higher.</p>
<h2>Recruit, Support, Develop</h2>
<p>Human Resources (HR) has 3 jobs. The first is to recruit people, the second to support people, and the third is to develop people.</p>
<p>I have been in HR now for 5 years and have seen a lot of changes. Definitely, COVID is one of the factors. Businesses are moving faster and more aggressively.</p>
<p>The type of people that an organization needs also changes with time. In the past, we needed people with passion and creativity, who enjoy working.</p>
<p>When work is people-related, like LINE MAN (we work with restaurants, customers ordering food, and delivery riders), we manage a lot of people. We need strong minded people. We no longer need those who just work well but people who are patient and strong-minded. They need to be able to work as a team and to solve problems quickly and effectively.</p>
<h2>The Types of People Every Organization Needs</h2>
<p>What are the qualities of a good employee that organizations look for?</p>
<h3>1. Open-minded and Eager to Learn</h3>
<p>One. Open-minded and inquisitive people whose glasses are always half full. We're in a world where things change all the time. What you knew may not be true. What you thought was right yesterday, may well be wrong today.</p>
<p>You have to be ready to improve, to change and not cling to the old beliefs. This is about the need to unlearn, learn and relearn.</p>
<h3>2. Patience and Dedication</h3>
<p>Two. Patient people who never give up. This is an era in which change happens suddenly and it's very unforgiving. You need to be unyielding, ready to face anything and never give up.</p>
<h3>3. See The Big Picture</h3>
<p>Three. I think it is about being bountiful. When we have a narrow perspective we only see the view from where we stand.</p>
<p>If we're bountiful, we see the big picture, we can see the company direction, what our bosses are doing, what our executives are doing. We then will not be constrained by our job description, but free to do whatever moves the company forward. Free to conquer all problems.</p>
<p>These are 3 things that will help you grow in an organization that suits you.</p>
<h2>5 Tips to Kick Start Your Career</h2>
<p>On CI Talks today, I want to share my thoughts on things I think will be useful for new graduates and first jobbers. Know what to focus on in the first 5 years so you can grow in the organization and have a chance to advance your career. I have 5 takeaways to share with you.</p>
<h3>Raise Your Hand</h3>
<p>One. Hand Raising.</p>
<p>2 years living with the COVID pandemic has resulted in lots of changes. It invented new work, work that no-one was assigned to do. This is a gray area, where new work requirements aren't specifically assigned. The question is who should take that work?</p>
<p>If we view it as not being extra work, or work that distracts our regular work flow, we can raise our hand and say "I'll do it". This is how we make ourselves outstanding at work.</p>
<p>You will be more tired but taking on work no one wants to do will make others view you as a valuable asset. It differentiates you from the rest. This quickly becomes a distinctive point and your unique selling point.</p>
<h3>Be Measurable</h3>
<p>The second is to be Measurable.</p>
<p>We are entering a data driven era that is results oriented. How do we know things we do matter? We need to be measurable, to know that what we do is making a difference; that the video we created is being watched, or the blog we write is being read.</p>
<p>The work we do needs to be measurable so that we know our limited time and effort has been well spent. When these things are measured and the results presented to colleagues and the executive board, your opportunity to grow in the organization will increase.</p>
<h3>Build Your Identity</h3>
<p>The third takeaway is Identity.</p>
<p>I'll divide this into 2 parts, the workplace and the online world. Re Identity in the workplace, I see potential candidates on LinkedIn and the ones with most potential, the top performers, don't regularly update their LinkedIn profiles because their track record is attractive to companies. They don&rsquo;t have to search for jobs as companies, recruiters and head-hunters will search for them.</p>
<p>The second is identity in the online world. I&rsquo;m a believer in promoting your name as your brand, as opposed to any organization. We have many social media channels; Youtube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok. If you're just a user browsing feeds, you are not using these platforms to their full potential.</p>
<p>When you become a creator and generate your own content that is published on those platforms, you build your identity, followers. This is clear and tangible work that can create fame, notoriety and opportunity.</p>
<p>So build your identity in the workplace and the online world to open new doors to good things.</p>
<h3>Be Healthy: Mind, Body and Soul</h3>
<p>The fourth is Healthy Mind, Body and Soul.</p>
<p>Over the past 2 years, more people have become burnt out, more people have suffered from depression. I think working from home is one reason; hours spent alone, sitting in front of a laptop. Another reason is that the boundary between personal life and work has dissolved by working from home.</p>
<p>With capitalism, organizations grow fast and if we don't protect this boundary, the pressure of the work and the pressure of the organization will keep us running all the time. When we run without rest eventually, as the body has limits, it will break down. We need to take care of ourselves both physically and mentally.</p>
<p>For physical health, it's easy; eat healthy, get enough sleep, and workout. Mental health is just as important. If we keep working, working, just working to fulfill our ambitions, In the end, you may not get there because you get burnt out.</p>
<p>At LINE MAN Wongnai, our policy is to be good to our staff, to give them a chance to experience what they love like hosting Music Evenings for staff to sing and play instruments, or booking bands like POLYCAT to perform. Things like this.</p>
<h3>Be Patient!</h3>
<p>My fifth takeaway is to be patient and wait.</p>
<p>I often remind new graduates that they need to be patient, that they need to wait. New graduates want to grow fast, succeed fast. They are impatient. "I've worked for 6 months and got nowhere" or "I know all this. I'll change jobs". But if you do this, you forfeit the chance to excel in your career and threaten your career success.</p>
<p>There's a term "Career Capital"; the accrued skills and knowledge you have. You build it by staying at a job and building knowledge to do that job until you begin to create impact and grow with the organization. When I am recruiting, I look for people who have been promoted in a company they have worked at for 2-3 years and have grown in that company. I'll hire them.</p>
<p>Another profile is the "job hopper". They change jobs frequently. I don't hire these people. The perception I have is that one, they aren't patient enough, or two, they are just not good, because all good things take time. Only bad things happen quickly. Everything else takes time. So if you are patient and never give up, you will reach your future goals.</p>
<h2>Step Forward in the World of Work</h2>
<p>The Future of Work.</p>
<p>What will the future of work be like? The answer is no one knows. We can&rsquo;t guess how it will change but we can predict what won&rsquo;t change.</p>
<p>Choose a good organization and know what organization you want to work for. Try to blend in and to understand the big picture of the organization and focus on that. Find opportunities to grow in the organization. Your future will then be bright and you will be in a position to earn enough to take care of yourself and your family too.</p>

Kick Start Your Career Success Script

<p>I just can't see what business can continue operating in the future without creativity. You all have creativity. You have the potential and ability to pursue creativity. If someone tells you that you don't have it, do not believe them.</p>
<h2>Why a Creative Economy is important</h2>
<p><span style="font-size: 18px; font-weight: bold;">Hello, I am Duangrit Bunnag,</span><br />an Architect.</p>
<p>A contracting population means less demand. Less resources, or scarcity, in the world affects supply. Both will be less. The question is how the global economy can evolve to continue to feed our planet and our needs. This is about sustainable development in economy.</p>
<p>Let me give you an example. Let's say I have a glass that is sold today at 20-30 Baht. But I can use the same material to produce a design-led glass. I might be able to sell the glass at a higher price, at 100-120 Baht.</p>
<p>This is the market of the future. You will have to create products that transform limited materials or resources into higher value goods. Such products must be distributed in diversified markets where specific demands need to be met, but the number of buyers will be lower. The only way we can improve or develop our economic thinking from this point is through creativity.</p>
<p>You will see from today that a number of things will have high competitiveness given new thoughts or new ideas or if certain businesses have embraced creativity. In my view, as an Architect, I do not see how any business can move forward into the future without creativity.</p>
<p>The question is, are we ready? Are we prepared? Do we have the right mechanisms to develop people with high creative potential? Potential is the backbone of a creative economy. It's an economy that creates people who have the potential to create.</p>
<p>Creative Economy, as the phrase suggests, is about creativity's economic contribution. It's not simply about films, books, music, or design. Creativity occurs in all facets of a business. I call it, or anything originating from creativity, a Creative Economy.</p>
<p>Today, I have five insights for you to take home on creativity and creative economy.</p>
<h2>1. Focus on Creating Temporary Monopolies</h2>
<p>First is Temporary Monopoly. In the future, we won't see a permanent monopoly of goods and services. Everything will be temporary.</p>
<p>It's a Sine Wave. A Sine Wave goes up and down. When it reaches the top, that's where wealth is created. Companies, from this point forward, should focus on creating Temporary Monopolies repeatedly.</p>
<p>A company will need to build and rebuild itself. For example, Facebook has built a Temporary Monopoly called &ldquo;Meta&rdquo; (Metaverse).</p>
<p>So I can tell you that the one thing that takes you to the peak of wealth again and again is creativity. I will show you that there is a direct correlation between Temporary Monopolies, wealth and creativity.</p>
<h2>2. Make "Silent Knowledge" Your Business</h2>
<p>Second is silent knowledge. One area where we keep failing is viewing knowledge as articulated knowledge or knowledge that can be recorded, be it books, websites,or information posted online.</p>
<p>To give you an example, let's say I give a musician a note to play. That note is articulated knowledge. Being able to read music is articulated knowledge. It doesn't mean that the musician can play an instrument or song in the same way as a music master. But when the master passes on all techniques and tips for the musician to play a song captivatingly, that is silent knowledge.</p>
<p>This is why the Thai education system, or education system generally, is failing. Because we don't place any emphasis on silent knowledge. We prioritize articulated knowledge.</p>
<p>But these days, any knowledge that can be recorded has already been recorded, and copied. So kids can easily access articulated knowledge at any time beyond school. Schools that aim for articulated knowledge will not be engaging for children.</p>
<p>If we can pass on both types of knowledge, articulated and silent, the environment will be interesting. Schools will be interesting.</p>
<p>An environment that has the potential to pass on both silent knowledge and articulated knowledge is an environment that breeds creativity.</p>
<h2>3. Spark Creativity in the Right Context</h2>
<p>Third, &ldquo;creativity is what is possible within the context&rdquo;. It starts with this sentence. It's how to look for possibilities given the current context.</p>
<p>To do this, you have to look further for possibilities, not from yourself, but from the surrounding context.</p>
<p>Picture a diagram. When you make a dot, you don't see what the possibilities of that dot are until the number of dots increases to 2 or 3 dots, or more. When there are three dots, you may see a triangle. When there are 4 dots, that's when you may see a quadrilateral instead.</p>
<p>Potential arises when there is enough context. When there are more dots, the potential becomes clearer. At one point, you will be able to say that it's a circle.</p>
<p>With enough context, new possibilities emerge. You don't even have to consciously think about it. You will see that it can be a circle without effort. If you can see this and there is enough context, I can tell you that possibilities will automatically arise. That is the wonder of creativity.</p>
<h2>4. Change the Context to Ignite Creativity</h2>
<p>Fourth is altering the context. Sometimes when you are in certain contexts and can't find a path forward, I'd suggest you try changing the context.</p>
<p>Let's say you're looking into a room and you're trying to find an exit, I look left, right, in front, at the back, but I can&rsquo;t find a way out. What I have to do to find an exit is to alter the context.</p>
<p>Imagine if I flip the room from one side to the other; flip it on the vertical axis and then the horizontal axis. I will eventually find an exit hidden in a perspective that I have never seen before.</p>
<p>For example, if you are a creative writer and are sitting at home one day with writer&rsquo;s block, you may decide to change the scene and move to a different environment, like a cafe. This is a good example of altering the context.</p>
<p>So what I want you to try is to try altering the context whenever you can't see the solution. Try changing the context, changing the total perspective. This is the way to see new ways to innovate, by exploring different contexts.</p>
<h2>5. You are Already a Creative Person</h2>
<p>Fifth, I want you to remember that you are always already a creative person.</p>
<p>No matter what other people say, you have the potential to be creative.</p>
<p>If you don't believe me, close your eyes and drift back in time to when you were seven years old. You were brim full with creativity. Back then, everything was possible. You could do anything. You could become anything.</p>
<p>That is the wonder within yourself, the wonder of your life. So, you are already a creative person. You have always been creative. This is the thing that makes you realize that you can do anything with your hands.</p>
<p>In the future, there won't be anything that generates wealth without creativity.</p>
<p>I hope you will see that creativity lies within each and everyone of you. You have the ability to summon creativity whenever you need it.</p>

<h2>Vegan Versus Plant Based Diet</h2>
<p>The difference between plant-based and vegan is that if something is plant-based, it's made from plants. You may have seen big name fast food places advertising their plant-based meat, which looks like meat but is made from plants. Now let's talk about being vegan. It's more than eating plant-based food. It's 100% plant-based. Everything in your life must come 100% from plants. This includes your lifestyle. Your bags, your shoes must not come from animals. We call it the "cruelty-free lifestyle".</p>
<h2>Vegan Journey</h2>
<p>My mum is vegan. She is healthy and strong. That inspired me to learn more about veganism. And I've found information that changed the whole thing for me. The best way to pass on the information is by doing. So I started cooking vegan food. The first hurdle I faced was that people didn't know about vegan food and its benefits.</p>
<p>The reason why I quit med school was because of my strong passion. I felt like doing vegan food and spreading this to the new generations. So I talked to my parents. I have my brother to thank since he was fully into it and helped me a lot. My friends then gossiped "oh Jah is now selling cakes instead of being a doctor". I wasn't angry. I found it funny. I was becoming a vegan leader in Thailand.</p>
<h2>Vegan Leader in Thailand</h2>
<p>I want Thais to have good, healthy food. I want farmers to earn income. And I want to promote vegan Thai food to the world.</p>
<p>In 2020, I went to Oman and was invited to present vegan Thai food there. I was really excited. It was the first time for me to present vegan Thai food abroad. I was also featured in Veg World magazine. It's a foreign magazine that features all aspects of vegan lifestyle. I was so happy to have featured in it. Apart from this, Forbes Thailand also interviewed me about my vegan businesses, including Veganerie. I was so happy!</p>
<h2>The Benefits of Being Vegan</h2>
<h3>Good Health</h3>
<p>The first benefit of eating vegan food is good health.</p>
<p>I weighed around 62-63 kg before turning to veganism. After 2-3 years, my weight gradually reduced. At the same time, I gained more strength. My excretory system got better. Everything sort of came together all at once. I thought it was amazing. I just changed the food. Moreover, plant-based food also reduces our chance of getting cancer, hypertension, diabetes, and heart disease.</p>
<h3>Good for Animals</h3>
<p>The second benefit of vegan food is obviously that it is good for animals. If we don't eat their meat, use their skin and fur, it's like we are saving their lives.</p>
<h3>Good for People</h3>
<p>The third benefit is that it's good for people.</p>
<p>Thailand is a world leading agricultural country. We export a tremendous amount of products. Many foreigners come to our country to find vegan food. If the market for vegan food is expanded, this benefits our country. Higher income leads to economic growth. That's really sustainable.</p>
<h3>Good for the Environment</h3>
<p>On the environment, vegan food has a lower carbon footprint and uses less unnecessary resources. For instance, for one beef burger you need to raise cows and to do that, forest must be cleared to grow cattle feed.</p>
<p>On the other hand, if we cut this cycle out and eat plant-based steak, it helps save resources. Veganism is not just a trend but a sustainable way of living that is good for the people, animals, and the environment.</p>
<h2>5 Tips to Help You Start Going Vegan</h2>
<p>I will share five tips to help you start going vegan. Let's see what they are.</p>
<h3>Become Vegan Slowly<br />Ease Yourself into a Vegan Diet</h3>
<p>First is to start slowly. This is very important because it helps you to sustain the habit. So if you eat both vegan food and meat, that's okay. Don't get stressed. Let's have fun with it. If you like Holy Basil Chicken stir-fry (Pad Krapow Gai) then carry on having it but start replacing chicken with mushrooms or tofu. Being gradual allows your body to adjust.</p>
<h3>Know Your Reason</h3>
<p>Second is to have your own rationale.</p>
<p>If you have your own rationale, you'll be able to do it better. For some people, they feel sorry for animals so they don't eat meat. Some want to be more healthy. And some think about the environment. There's no right or wrong. But it's your rationale that will keep you on track. And it will make your own journey enjoyable. So I want you to have your own rationale.</p>
<h3>Dare to Get Out of Your Comfort Zone</h3>
<p>Third is to get out of your comfort zone. If you do something you haven't done before or that you are not used to, you'll be scared of what may happen. I urge you to get out of your comfort zone by doing it and you will get used to it.</p>
<h3>Myths and Misconceptions About Veganism</h3>
<p>Fourth is regarding misconceptions about veganism. No.1 is that a vegan lacks strength, nutrients, protein, and vitamin B12.</p>

<p>These are wrong. You can find protein in a lot of plant-based food; nuts, tempeh and tofu. You only need to vary your diet to meet the needs of your body.</p>
<p>Second is price. Many people worry that vegan food is expensive. If you cook it at home, it's cheaper. On the ingredients, if you take meat out and replace it with tofu tempeh, greens, or plant-based food, this will not be expensive. You will be able to reduce your costs.</p>
<h3>Change Starts With You</h3>
<p>Fifth, small changes combine to create a big change. Many may wonder if it really makes a big difference simply by not eating meat. The answer is yes, a lot. If people stop eating meat in millions, it will make a huge difference. Changes are happening now. Many countries have seen more plant-based food and fewer meat-related businesses. That resulted from changes on our plates.</p>
<h2>5 Keys to Know Before Going Vegan</h2>
<p>Today, veganism is becoming a mainstream lifestyle, from food to everything around us. By sharing my story with you today, it doesn't mean that I object to eating meat. At the end of the day, it's your choice. I'm just one voice that tells you what being a vegan is like and what the benefits are.</p>

<p>Let&rsquo;s break the formula down into its 5 key takeaways:</p>
<h3>1. Acquire Knowledge Quickly (&ldquo;&frac12;&rdquo;)</h3>
<p>In his explanation of his success formula, Krating kicks off by defining &ldquo;1/2&rdquo;. To win in today&rsquo;s world of constant disruption, you need to view the knowledge and skills you have as being a glass that is always half full.</p>
<p>This, the first part of the formula, is about the need to constantly learn, unlearn and relearn to keep yourself steps ahead of rivals. In his CI Talk, Krating reiterates that 40% of the knowledge you have right now will highly likely be irrelevant in a year's time. To thrive in the future of work, you need to have an appetite for learning and to constantly expand your arsenal of knowledge and skills.</p>
<h3>2. Be Disciplined (&ldquo;g&rdquo;)</h3>
<p>&ldquo;G&rdquo; is for &ldquo;Grit&rdquo; as you are going to need a lot of grit (discipline) to effectively achieve &ldquo;Y^3&rdquo;, the next part of the formula. This is because the "10,000-hour rule" applies when we commit to learning something new.</p>
<p>Krating&rsquo;s specialist area is &ldquo;Startups&rdquo;, more specifically tech startups. This is his area of deep knowledge and expertise that he is continually adding to with new skills.</p>
<p>Your journey to success is going to take discipline, perseverance and persistence. Grit is the backbone of a winning mindset.</p>
<h3>3. Gain Deep Knowledge (&ldquo;Y&rdquo;)</h3>
<p>Next is the &ldquo;Y^3&rdquo; element of the formula which is split into two parts. Firstly, we need to gain deep knowledge in our specific area of expertise and this is represented by the trunk of the &ldquo;Y&rdquo;; your deep knowledge in one field.</p>
<p>The 10,000 hour rule applies when you set about learning to become an expert in a particular field. Once you have achieved depth of knowledge though, you cannot stand still in this world of disruption. You then need to focus on diversifying and expanding your breadth of knowledge and skills in that field for 2 reasons:</p>
<ol>
<li>Knowledge Becomes Irrelevant - In his CI Talk, Krating states that 40% of the knowledge and know-how we have today will be irrelevant in 12 months time.</li>
<li>Guarantee Lifelong Employability - In <a href="https://citalks.com/talk/future-proof-yourself-with-new-skills/video">Episode 4</a> of the Future of Work web series, Krating warned us that the days of lifelong employment have now been replaced by lifelong employability; making sure that we remain employable throughout our working lives.</li>

<p>When we set about gaining deep knowledge, the next phase is to continuously add to the breadth of your knowledge and skills that you offer. This will make you unique, set you apart from the crowd and guarantee your lifelong employability whilst also future-proofing yourself by having the ability to quickly move to alternative skills, as and when required.</p>
<h3>4. Always ask &ldquo;Why&rdquo; (&ldquo;Y&rdquo;)</h3>
<p>Actually, you should ask why 5 times and Krating calls this the &ldquo;5 Why's&rdquo;. The purpose is to get to the &ldquo;Fundamental Truth&rdquo; and the &ldquo;First Principle&rdquo;. This helps you to acquire the knowledge you need to implement change, to innovate and more.</p>
<p>Krating uses the example of Elon Musk asking &ldquo;Why&rdquo; a spaceship cost US$1 billion. When he discovered the answers, he was able to innovate by producing &ldquo;reusable&rdquo; spaceships which cost much less. This solution opened up the possibility of space travel for the masses.</p>
<h3>5. Grow Your Network (&ldquo;X&rdquo;)</h3>
<p>One of the most important things to do in your career is to grow your network, but you need to do this strategically.</p>
<p>Your professional network should consist of the right diversity of people and talent to help you achieve success quickly and efficiently. In the past leaders have said that the scale of your success is determined by your network and this holds true today. The more depth and breadth your network has, the more successful you will be.</p>
