<p>In this episode, I will talk about sex, the dos and donts and also some misunderstandings about sex. This is to promote safe sex for all.</p>
<h3>Q: You and Your Sexual Desire Is it wrong to have high sexual desire?</h3>
<p>A: Well we have to define what 'high' means. If it's so high that you can't work or study, and you are so obsessed that you can't stop thinking about it, that's abnormally high, and you should probably consider seeing a doctor.</p>
<h3>Q: Does Size Matter? Does the size of your penis affect sex?</h3>
<p>A: The answer is yes and no. It does and doesn't have an effect. Around 5 inches is considered normal. Less than 3 inches is considered small. But understand that women's most sensitive part during sex is the lower part of the vagina. Anyone can reach that part, No matter what size.</p>
<p>For some, size can be a misfit which can affect feeling. Many men worry they are too small and go for penis enlargement, genital beading (pearling), or mineral oil injections, like paraffin, into the penis. This is really misguided because it may cause infections in the future.</p>
<h3>Q: There are white spots, like pimples, around my penis? What are they and can they be treated?</h3>
<p>A: I must tell you that men get very embarrassed and don't want to tell anyone they have these spots. It's a normal condition for men though. They are sebaceous glands that can get clogged which causes the outbreak. They aren't warts or sexually transmitted diseases. You don't need to do anything about them. They will go away after some time. But if you are really worried, you can have a laser treatment. It's very easy.</p>
<h3>Can women get pregnant if the condom is removed in the bathtub after sex?</h3>
<p>A: Well, sperm swims really well but only once inside the vagina. A bathtub is not a vagina. Women cannot get pregnant this way.</p>
<h3>Q: Does wearing two condoms better protect against pregnancy?</h3>
<p>A: The answer is no. Putting on two condoms will likely cause increased friction which could split the condom and actually increase the likelihood of getting pregnant. So in short, one condom is enough for protection.</p>
<h3>Wearing condoms kills the pleasure when having sex. What to do about it?</h3>
<p>A: A condom is a barrier that helps prevent against sexually-transmitted diseases. They also prevent unwanted pregnancies. Nowadays, there are many new condoms like ultra thin, featherlite types. Experiment with different types of condom. You may find a type that is much better for you.</p>
<p>If you are sure your partner doesn't have a sexually transmitted diseases, your partner can just take birth control pills.</p>
<h3>Q: Do women have less sexual desire than men?</h3>
<p>A: It depends on the person. Some have a lot, some don't. Some women have higher desire and there's nothing wrong with that. Every couple should talk it through. Find the right balance out between you what is too much or too little. Your love life will be much happier.</p>
<h3>Q: When having sex, clitoral stimulation is is more arousing than penetration. Why?</h3>
<p>A: Well, compare the clitoris to the penis. Is it the genital area or head of the penis? This is the most sensitive area for men. Pre-birth, they come from the same organ. and develop with foetal growth. In men it becomes a penis and in women, a clitoris. In both, it's where the most nerve endings are which is why they are so sensitive.</p>
<h3>Q: Can we contract sexually transmitted diseases from public toilets?</h3>
<p>A: Honestly, it's almost impossible. Outside of our bodies, germs survive for less than an hour, less than 5 minutes, before they die. But if, for example, you share a towel with someone who is infected and it has their secretions on it, you can certainly catch the disease. It is very unlikely though.</p>
<h3>Q: How do you prevent vagina farts?</h3>
<p>A: Some say it just happens. The fart happens when a gap is formed during sexual intercourse. It's like when we clap our hands, there is wind. It goes in and out, in and out. Pressure builds up, can cause a sound. There is no way to stop this as it is the way the penis fits the vagina. Some think it's caused by a looser vagina and some people do have looser vaginas, but it's just a combination of the two parts.</p>
<h3>Q: My friend said semen is good for your skin. Is this true?</h3>
<p>A: Sperm is just protein, glucose, and stuff. You want a clear face right? You would have to leave the semen on for over fifteen minutes which you wouldn't do. It's better to use proper face cream.</p>
<h3>Q: Why does semen taste fishy? Is there anything to make the taste better? Do I have to swallow the semen?</h3>
<p>A: It's your choice. A man can't force you to swallow it. It's our right to decide. Guys can make their semen taste better, more sweet, and more appetising. How? Haven't you heard about eating pineapples? Pineapples add sugar which makes the semen taste better. by altering the acidity. You are what you eat. Eat nutritious foods, not too many desserts, and avoid smoking, as this makes it taste more fishy.</p>
<h3>Q: I want to use cosmetic cream on my genitals. Can I?</h3>
<p>A: Yes you can. And it's good too. When you wash your genitals with soap, you don't apply cream right? But actually your genitals need moisture just like any other part of your body. So you can apply cream or lotion. But beware! Whitening creams can contain substances that will irritate your genitals causing some burns or scratches.</p>
<h3>Q: What is a chick sponge? Is it good to use?</h3>
<p>A: Men don't know this. Only women know. You can find this in a pharmacy. It's a ball-shaped green or yellow sea sponge. In Thai, we call it a chick sponge.</p>
<p>Some women insert the sea sponge inside the vagina to have sex during their period. When your period comes, the sponge will absorb the blood and stop it from coming out during sex. The problem is, as it doesn&rsquo;t have a string attached, it can be difficult to take out afterwards. You may need to use your hand and, in some cases, ask a doctor to extract it for you.</p>
<p>These are some answers to questions. I hope they will be beneficial for a safe, enjoyable and confident sex.</p>

<p>According to research, more young people are becoming sexually active today without knowing or understanding about safe sex, protection, STDs, or even birth control.</p>
<p>The most important thing is that we talk openly with them, understand them, and give them knowledge about sexual intercourse before they have sex for the first time.</p>
<p>Talking with our kids or with children in our care about sex, may feel awkward, but they need the right information from a young age. We need to start teaching them the differences between females and males; this is what female genitalia looks like and this is what male genitalia looks like.</p>
<p>As the kids get a bit older, we may talk about love with them, because when we have sex, it's not just about sex, but a combination of love and sex. Tell them about your love stories and listen to their experiences so far. Doing this helps to open them up whilst making them feel safe to talk to you freely.</p>
<p>When they think it is the right time to have sex, we can then give them advice and encourage them to reflect on their personal values, before they make a final decision. But they should be left to make the final decision about who they choose and when they are ready.</p>
<h2>Birth Control &amp; STD Prevention</h2>
<p>I'll divide this into &ldquo;with&rdquo; a method of birth control and &ldquo;without&rdquo;. Let's start with "without". If no contraception plan has been made, the first option is "withdrawal" (pull out method).</p>
<h3>Withdrawal (Pull Out Method)</h3>
<p>Some people think that sperm is only released at orgasm, but that's not true at all. Sperm is released before that in pre-ejaculate.</p>
<p>Withdrawal is less than 75% effective, so it's not recommended.</p>
<h3>Fertility Awareness Method.</h3>
<p>&ldquo;Before 7, after 7&rdquo;. This means 7 days before you menstruate, you can have safe sex. 7 days after menstruation you can also have sex.</p>
<p>This period is safe because ovulation hasn't started yet, it will start midway. No eggs, no sperm, no pregnancy.</p>
<h3>Contraception.</h3>
<p>Next, Contraception.</p>
<p>For men, the only option is condoms. Condoms are 99% effective in preventing pregnancy, when used correctly. Condoms are available in highstreet stores and I suggest you carry condoms with you at all times.</p>
<p>There are condoms for women too, and not so many people know that. You can carry condoms, but when having sex, it's huge, like a basket in basketball, it's a long pouch and when having sex you may hear cracking sounds.</p>
<h3>Emergency Pills.</h3>
<p>You have 72 hours to take Emergency pills after you have sex, but the faster you take, the better.</p>
<p>Emergency pills contain strong hormones, which can cause hormonal swings. It's not recommended for those who have regular sex. You should use other methods.</p>
<h3>Birth control pills.</h3>
<p>The 28-day and the 21-day packet. These pills contain low hormonal doses and can be taken daily. One disadvantage though, is that you may forget to take it. If this happens, you have to start counting again.</p>
<p>The trick is that if you forget, Take it again as soon as you remember that day. But if a day has passed, take 2 pills the next day. If you miss 2 days, then take 2 pills a day for the next 2 days. If you miss 3 days, you must start again.</p>
<p>I suggest you also use other protection, like wearing a condom.</p>
<h3>Contraceptive injection.</h3>
<p>This lasts around 1 or 3 months. You inject this once a month. I think this method is fairly easy.</p>
<h3>Contraceptive implant.</h3>
<p>Consider this if you don't want to become pregnant for 3 to 5 years. This is a long time and that's the advantage of it. It's a tube, like a cotton bud, that is inserted under the skin of the upper arm and that's it. It lasts for 3-5 years.</p>
<p>An intrauterine device inside the vagina, or inserting a straw, can also prevent pregnancy. It also uses hormones. But it's not recommended for those diagnosed with STDs, or if you have had vaginal infections because it won't work well.</p>
<h2>Sexually Transmitted Diseases</h2>
<p>Sexually transmitted diseases are numerous and common. HIV may be the most renowned but there are many more such as syphilis, gonorrhoea, chlamydia, herpes, or warts.</p>
<p>Many of these can be prevented before sex, such as warts. We can get HPV. For Hepatitis B virus, we can get a vaccination as well. For other diseases, you must use a condom to protect yourself.</p>
<p>Many people think that STDs are transmitted via genitals only. That's not true. For example, Gonorrhoea can occur in the neck, mouth, or anus. Warts can occur in your mouth. Consider prevention carefully.</p>
<h2>Let's Talk About Sex Ed</h2>
<p>To sum everything up, having sex is natural, anyone can do it, we cannot forbid anyone from doing it and no one cannot forbid us from it too.</p>
<p>What we can do is communicate wisely and correctly when our kids are still young. Build their trust and let them talk to us. We can support birth control, to prevent teen pregnancy, and STDs.</p>

<h2>How to Have Good Sex</h2>
<p>How to have safe, happy and fun sex. EXCITING | FUN | SAFE Hello, I'm Dr. Fern and I'm a Medical Doctor specializing in Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI's) and Dermatology.</p>

<p>Recently, sexually transmitted diseases have risen sharply in Thailand, especially among teens who don't have the necessary knowledge because sex education is barely taught at school. Schools don't teach about STDs. They only teach how to avoid having sex, not about "sex", sexual arousal or having safe sex to prevent infectious diseases.</p>
<h3>They Don&rsquo;t Teach &hellip;</h3>
<p>How sex is<br />How to do it<br />How to have safe sex</p>
<h2>Pre Sex Preparation</h2>
<p>Before having sex, consider two things:</p>
<ol>
<li>Decide whether you want kids. If not, use a condom or the pill.</li>
<li>How you will protect against STDs. Condoms can prevent STDs or use PrEP to reduce the risk of HIV. It is available now. If you often have one night stands or aren't sure if he is infected or not, use the PrEP medicine.</li>
</ol>
<p><strong>PrEP</strong><br />PrEP: Take it 7 days before having sex. It can reduce the risk of HIV by 97%.</p>
<h2>The 4 Sexual Response Phases</h2>
<p>Next, let's look at the science of sex, and the 4 phases of sexual response. But first you'll need a partner!</p>
<h3>1. Excitement, Arousal &amp; Desire</h3>
<p>The first step in the act of sex is the Excitement Phase. it happens with bodily contact, no matter which parts, such as kissing or touching body parts.</p>
<p>I suggest you touch the sensitive areas such as neck, ears, hands, genitals or toes. You may not know that this area is erotic for some people.</p>
<p>It's not just physical touch that can stimulate the mood. Words can also make us feel more sensual and erotic. Saying things like "Darling" or "Honey", or toes. You may not know that erotic words and even spanking can make sex more fun.</p>
<h3>2. Plateau</h3>
<p>The Plateau Phase.</p>
<p>The Plateau Phase is when we're having sex. Our bodies become sexually excited. What are the sensations? Let's start with breasts. Breasts become fuller and the nipples become harder or erect and can also darken, due to increased blood flow.</p>
<p>Down below, at our genitals, men and women secrete lubricating fluids. In women, the vagina enlarges and muscles contract with blood flow causing the labia to swell and become firm. When the male comes inside, it will feel much tighter.</p>
<p>Also, we should know the places that make men and women feel more erotic. For men, as you may already know, it's the tip of the penis that is the most sensitive. We can arouse that part.</p>
<p>For women, it's what's called G-spot which you may have already heard of. Actually, speaking of the G-spot, until recently, no one knew exactly where it was located. We only knew it was within the vagina.</p>
<p>Just as important is the clithoris. The clithoris is, as a foetus, in the same position as the head of the penis, meaning they develop from the same organ. In men, it becomes the tip of the penis. In women, it becomes the clithoris.</p>
<p>Women's erogenous zones are most sensitive. During sex, stimulating the clithoris helps them to reach orgasm quickly. Another spot for men, not so well known, is the perineum. It's what we call the P-spot. It's like the G-spot in women. You can stimulate that spot to give him an intesely erotic experience. It is between the anus and scrotum. Use your finger to lightly massage it.</p>
<p>For those who have sex via the "back door" where the back door is penetrated, is where the prostrate is and another male erogenous zone.</p>
<h3>3. Orgasm</h3>
<p>The third phase is the &ldquo;Orgasmic Phase&rdquo;, the story&rsquo;s finale. The climax brings the event to a close.</p>
<p>Your body has involuntary contractions. After ejacuation, a sex flush may appear, similar to a rash, over your body. You may get muscle spasms in the hands and feet. This phase can last for about 5-8 minutes in both men and women.</p>
<p>In men, as you may know, orgasm is when the semen comes out. But what about women? Some may secrete milky white fluid from their vagina, similar to men, whilst others, like you see in porn, can "squirt" from their vulva. That is simply urine.</p>
<p>For women, orgasm is not just achieved through vaginal penetration. As said, the erogenous zone is the clithoris. Sometimes just touching there can bring a woman to orgasm. For some women, just caressing the nipples can bring an orgasm on as well.</p>
<h3>4. Resolution</h3>
<p>The fourth phase is called the Resolution Phase. It's when both parties are finished. We feel a sense of well-being and fatigue as our muscles relax.</p>
<p>If you want to go for round 2 What should you do? Most women can start again immediately because their resolution phase is short. Women recover very quickly and can start again straight away. But men need more time because their recovery takes longer. You may have to wait from 10 minutes to hours before you are both ready again.</p>
<h3>Cleaning Up After Sex</h3>
<p>Once we've finished, we need to wash ourselves. Women should use water to wash their outer parts only. Some people put fingers in which isn't OK, because fingers can convey germs inside.</p>
<p>Men should just clean with water.</p>
<p>If you have anal sex, clean around the anus with water. I had a patient who inserted a bar of soap into their anus, moving it in and out, thinking it would help make it clean, but that's totally wrong and can actually cause injury.</p>
<h2>Sexual Awareness</h2>
<p>Having sex is natural and anyone can do it. We need to communicate with kids properly and make them feel safe talking to us. Awareness leads to better birth control and helps prevent early pregnancy and STDs as well.</p>

<h2>When Is The Right Time For Sex</h2>
<p>Many people may know that if we are to have sex, we should do it at the right time. But when?</p>
<p>There is no benchmark for when it should be. First, when you are legally ready. As stated in the law, and I'll make no mistake because I'll read through it.</p>

<p>I didn't say it, the law said it.</p>
<p>I can go more slowly. Okay, let's try.</p>
<p>In conclusion, very simply, the law is here to protect minors.</p>
<p>My suggestion is if I were you, and it's up to you ...</p>
<ul>
<li>First, if I were 18, I wouldn't have sex with anyone under 18. So, you're safe.</li>
<li>Second, if you're still under 18, you can wait, just to be sure.</li>
<li>Third, when your body is ready. This one's hard because we're all different. Earlier for some, later for others. But in the end, no one can tell 100% how long puberty is going to take or when you'll be ready to have sex.</li>
<li>Fourth and lastly, when you feel ready. Feelings do matter. When we're are in a romantic relationship, does that mean we're ready? Does love mean you're ready? Not always. Feelings matter when it comes to deciding if you're ready.</li>
</ul>
<p>For example, me. If I meet someone I like, "Ooh! that one I like."</p>
<ul>
<li>First, how old are you? 17? Sorry, boy. Bye. How old are you? 30? Okay, ready. One box checked.</li>
<li>The second box. Body. Checked! Mine? Ready. Okay, now the last question: Am I ready? Even if he's got a hot body and is the right age, if I still, say, miss my ex. Am I ready?</li>
</ul>
<p>If you still can't decide whether you're ready for sex, I have a checklist with 5 ways that can help you know if you're ready for first time sex.</p>
<h3>Right Time, Right Place, Right Person</h3>
<p>The first check is to ask yourself if it is the right time, the right place, and with the right person. This means, even if you love each other and want to have sex together, but you do it in the wrong place, that's wrong.</p>
<p>For example, a long time ago when I was at school overseas, a student couple had sex in a toilet cubicle and broke the toilet. This example might be a bit too extreme, but you get what I mean, right?</p>
<p>We may feel very attracted to each other but we have to do it in an appropriate place. If I'm with my boyfriend and we're feeling horny, but we're with 10 friends, so that's not the right time. We have to be sure everything is appropriate.</p>
<h3>Don't Be Pressured into Having Sex</h3>
<p>Our next check is to be sure that we don't have sex because we feel pressured or just to impress someone.</p>
<p>A friend of mine liked a guy so much but she thought that the only way to get hime to like her back was to have sex with him. That meant she wasn't really ready.</p>
<p>Another friend felt bad because she was a virgin while everyone around her had already had sex (or atleast said they had). She felt like the odd one out and under (peer) pressure to get the deed done.</p>
<p>Don't have sex when you feel pressured. This is a no-no. It means you're not ready.</p>
<h3>Was Once Enough?</h3>
<p>The next check is to ask yourself if you're going to have sex just because you've had sex with them before.</p>
<p>Just because you've had sex with them before doesn't mean you have to keep on doing it. In fact, it&rsquo;s the other way around.</p>
<p>Don't feel pressured just because you've already had sex with someone. You don't have to keep on having sex with them.</p>
<p>It's our body. It's our decision. You can say NO, and you can say thank you, NEXT PLEASE.</p>
<h3>What Protection Will You Use?</h3>
<p>The next check. What are your plans for birth control and STD prevention?</p>
<p>Before you have sex, ask yourself if you know how to protect yourself. Protecting yourself is about loving and respecting yourself.</p>
<p>If someone say they want to have sex with you but they don't have any protection plan or don't want to use any protection. You can say "If you love me and respect me, and respect yourself, we should use protection." And if he truly respects you, he will agree to it and he will be okay.</p>
<p>Intending to protect yourself before sex is a good way to show that you're ready.</p>
<h3>Check and Double Check</h3>
<p>My final check is for you to double check!</p>
<p>Truly, no matter how long my checklist is there is no guarantee that it means you're ready or not. Whether you're ready or not depends on you.</p>
<p>You can rethink your decision again, go through the checklist again. Even if you go half way and change your mind, it means you're not ready. You can say no. So double-checking is also important.</p>

<p>Talking about sex education here today isn't about showing the villain the way, or suggesting that you have sex now. It's just like me giving you a raincoat in case it rains and it may not rain today. But when it does, you have a raincoat to use.</p>

<p>Many people think that sex education is about "sex" only. Actually, sex education involves many different topics about sexuality, such as Reproduction, Identity, Sexual Orientation, Sexually Transmitted Diseases, Contraception, Pregnancy, Consent, and Relationships.</p>
<p>All these are related to sex education, it's not just about sexual intercourse. It's a very broad subject.</p>
<h2>My Experience of Sex Education</h2>
<p>I was raised in Sweden from the age of 7 and that is where I was taught sex education. The way they taught it in class presented the subject in a way that we could take it in gradually. Kids understood and went "Yeah. Uhha.".</p>
<p>So when we came back to the subject as teenagers, there were no big surprises for us, and it wasn&rsquo;t at all embarrassing. When we talked about sex in class, it was like, "Whoa, it's so exciting". It wasn't anything to be ashamed of, like, "why are you talking about this?" No. Because it's like we've been introduced to the subject bit by bit already.</p>
<p>When I came back to Thailand, I had to learn like, I had to remember the terms. I remember sex education was taught as a Physical Education subject. Back in Thailand, I worked hard in class because I like sex stuff since I was a kid. Yeah, this is the truth!</p>
<p>And I got the highest score, so proud. But a friend came and said "Highest score in sex education? You think about sex all day, don't you?"</p>
<p>Am I wrong? Getting high scores in sex education. Is it embarrassing getting high scores? ฺBack then I didn't know if it was good or bad. But now that I've grown up, I know that she must have been told by her family not to talk about sex because it's embarrassing, not something to be good at and not something to be proud of.</p>
<p>Why would anyone be proud to know about sex, to know that this thing is called a penis?</p>
<h2>I'm a Sex Guru</h2>
<p>Now I make YouTube videos on sex education because I'm really into it. I feel I can present it in a fun way, and share my knowledge.</p>

<h2>5 Benefits of Sex Education</h2>
<p>Now that we have some understanding of what sex education means, today, in CI Talks, I want to share 5 benefits of sex education.</p>
<h3>Knowing How To Be Safe</h3>
<p>First, sex education can help us build safety options. How? Sex education teaches us about proper protection to prevent unwanted pregnancies and STDs such as condoms which can prevent both. Condoms protect you from STDs and prevent pregnancy.</p>
<p>Other contraceptive methods prevent pregnancy but not STDs. For girls under the age of 20, the contraceptive implant or IUD are free.</p>

<h3>Understanding Yourself &amp; Others</h3>
<p>Sex education turns us from being good to great. How can it make us good boys and girls? If we don't learn about sex education, we won't know what is right and what is wrong or about the invisible boundaries that exist.</p>
<p>For example, a boy may think it&rsquo;s OK to lift up a girl&rsquo;s skirt to see her underwear. But no, you don't do that! Boys must understand that they cannot do that because it makes the girl feel terrible. They may be shy or whatever. It's just not the right thing to do.</p>
<p>If you want to be physically intimate with someone, you have to ask first. Tadaa! Sex education teaches you about this, so that we can all be good boys and girls.</p>
<h3>Respect For Your Body</h3>
<p>Third, when we know about sex education, we can say "yes" or "no" with confidence.</p>
<p>People have excuses. Women say "I have my period", which is the easiest. But this is what I want you to say. "Hey, I like kissing you now, but I'm not ready to go further today.".</p>
<p>If he loves us, respects us, he will be okay with that. Trust me. If you think this guy is the be all and end all and that if you say "no", he will dump you, well, there are plenty more dicks in the world.</p>
<h3>Embracing Diversity</h3>
<p>The next one. Sex education helps us to understand each other's differences and reduce social stigmas. For example, &ldquo;sexual orientation&rdquo;.</p>
<p>If we know that "Yeah, this is normal", we won't judge them or treat them differently. Instead, we will use words more carefully because for some reason it may be sensitive.</p>
<p>If we don't know about sex education, although we don't mean it, some things we say can be insulting. Knowing and understanding more makes us more conscious and compassionate.</p>
<h3>Sex Education &amp; Morality</h3>
<p>The last one. Sex education helps to preserve morality. Huh, surprised?</p>
<p>Some think that if we talk openly about sex, it will undermine morality. People like to think "Oops, is it possible?" Can sex help preserve moral principles? Well yes, it can and it does.</p>
<p>If we know about sex education and how to respect other people, it reduces rape cases, and things like sexual harrassment. Because we know right from wrong. Abortions and unwanted pregnancy, because we control it and protect ourselves.</p>
<p>I said "cases can be reduced", not erased. But it can be reduced with sex education.</p>
<h2>5 Reasons Why Sex Education is Important</h2>
<p>Let me conclude, sex education is good!</p>
<p>If we know and understand it, we can treat ourselves and each other right. We can prevent bad things from happening, and we can reduce social stigmas as well.</p>

Know How To Have Safe Sex

<p>How To Have Good Sex is episode 3 of the CI Talks 5-part <a href="https://citalks.com/talk/sex-education">sex education video series</a> with coaches Ticha Kanticha Chumma and Bangkok STI expert Dr. Thanyanan Kangvalpornroj.</p>
<h2>The 4 Phases of the Sexual Response Cycle</h2>
<p>In this video, Dr. Thanyanan Kangvalpornroj takes you through getting prepared for sex before moving into the human sexual response cycle, a model devised by William Masters and Virginia Johnson in 1960&rsquo;s, and its 4 phases.</p>
<h3>Phase 1: Excitement, Arousal &amp; Desire</h3>
<p>The excitement phase can last for a few minutes to several hours depending on your and your partner, where you are and the connection between you.</p>
<p>Your muscles begin to get more tense, your heart rate quickens, breathing becomes faster and your nipples become hardened and erect. Blood flow increases to your genitals; in men his penis becomes erect and in women, her breasts become fuller, her clitoris and labia swell, and her vagina becomes lubricated.</p>
<h3>Phase 2: Plateau</h3>
<p>"Plateau" sounds very boring but in fact it's about the moment just before orgasm. Everything that happened in the excitement phase is intensified. As blood flow increases, the vagina continues to swell and her clitoris becomes very sensitive. Other things increasing are your breathing, heart rate and muscle tension which may, in your feet, face and hands, go into spasm.</p>
<h3>Phase 3: Orgasm</h3>
<p>The orgasm is the climax, the fireworks at the end of the event. As you go through an orgasm, you will have involuntary muscle contractions and your breathing, heart rate and blood pressure are at their highest rates. The muscles in your feet may spasm.</p>
<p>Then comes the sudden release of sexual tension. Men will experience a series of rhythmic contractions at the base of their penis as they ejaculate semen. Women will feel the muscles of their vagina contracting and, sometimes, rhythmic contractions in their uterus.</p>
<p>A sex flush, similar to a rash, may also appear over your entire body.</p>
<h3>Phase 4: Resolution</h3>
<p>The fourth and final phase is "resolution", or the period immediately after orgasm. This is when you feel tired but intimate and with a sense of well being.</p>
<p>For those wanting "Round 2", many women can recover very quickly and, with more sexual stimulation, be able to experience multiple orgasms. Alas, men take longer to recover and the amount of time they need before they can orgasm again depends on the individual and their age.</p>

<p>How do you know if you are ready for sex? No one can tell you for sure but there are checks that will make it easier for you to know when it is the right time.</p>
<h2>Sex Readiness</h2>
<p>Watch "Making Sure You Are Ready", episode 2 of the CI Talks Sex Education video web series with Ticha Kanticha Chumma who shares 5 ways to know if you're ready for sex. Use her checklist to help you know when it is the right time and place and with the right person.</p>
<p>Sex is one of those things that we should do for no one but ourselves. If something does not feel right, you are not ready. Don&rsquo;t feel pressured to do anything you don&rsquo;t feel comfortable doing and only go ahead when both you and your partner feel mutually comfortable and ready.</p>
<h3>What is the Right Age?</h3>
<p>There are laws in place which dictate the age at which individuals are legally allowed to participate in sexual intercourse and these laws are there to protect minors. If you or your partner is below the legal age, you are not ready.</p>
<h3>Being Physically Ready</h3>
<p>You need to be physically ready. Our bodies are different; some of us go through puberty much earlier than others. But many girls enter puberty and start their periods at around the age of 12 (with a wide margin). At this time they are &ldquo;physically&rdquo; able to conceive but this does not mean that they are physically or mentally ready. They are not.</p>
<p>If you are having doubts and don&rsquo;t want to go all the way, you are not ready.</p>
<h3>Yes, But All My Friends Have Done It</h3>
<p>Or so they say. Your friends may put you on the spot with comments like &ldquo;What? You&rsquo;re still a virgin&rdquo; or &ldquo;we&rsquo;ve all done it, why haven&rsquo;t you? Then there is the other classic, &ldquo;if you don&rsquo;t let him do it, he will dump you&rdquo;. Have you heard these before? If you have, you aren&rsquo;t the first and won&rsquo;t be the last.</p>
<p>Never feel pressured to do something you are really not comfortable doing. You will know when you are ready for sex when you feel ready and then it can be a wonderful experience for you both.</p>
<h2>Sexual Readiness Checklist</h2>
<p>Use Ticha&rsquo;s checklist which gives you 5 ways to know when you are ready for first time sex:</p>

<h3>Ticha Kanticha Chumma</h3>
<p>Meet Thai model and actress Ticha Kanticha Chumma who was born in Thailand but spent many of her school years in Sweden, graduating with an international baccalaureate from there. The Swedish school that Ticha attended taught sex education bit by bit from primary school to secondary. So when Ticha was a teenager she didn't find the subject at all embarrassing.</p>
<p>Back in Thailand, she describes herself as being &ldquo;more broadminded&rdquo; thanks to her Swedish school&rsquo;s proactive approach to sex education.</p>
<h3>Why is Sex Ed Important</h3>
<p>Ticha became aware and informed about sexuality and passionate about the subject. The lessons she attended taught her how important it was to respect your body and have the ability to say &ldquo;yes&rdquo; or &ldquo;no&rdquo; with confidence. The lessons helped her to develop happier relationships and accept diversity in all its forms. She also learned how to be safe and protect herself.</p>
