<p><strong>Bangkok, Thailand:</strong> In a <a href="https://citalks.com/talk/3-million-video-views-inspire-fred-fahsai-to-talk-business/">video press release</a> published on June 9, 2021, Fred Mouawad and Fahsai Paweensuda Saetan-Drouin, Co-founders of CI Talks, confirmed that CI Talks, an online social enterprise offering video talks geared to inspire the younger generation, has exceeded 3 million video views since its launch in February 2021.</p>
<p>Fahsai describes the content as &ldquo;videos that showcase different celebrities and experts who share their experiences to inspire our viewers to take action and grow&rdquo;. The short, cinematic videos are scripted to entertain and inspire. Each video delivers three to five actionable takeaways to generate a positive impact among their audience. Fahsai states that the fundamental objective of CI Talks &ldquo;is for the videos to be viewed by as many people as possible&rdquo;. Consequently all videos published are on-demand and free-to-view.</p>
<p>The company achieved over 3 million online video views with seven videos featuring four different celebrities that were released across various channels including their own website, YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn. Sixty percent of the views came from Thailand and the remainder were worldwide. Ninety percent of the viewers were between eighteen and thirty four years old and this, as Fred Mouawad points out, is the age that adults are most susceptible to learning.</p>
<p>Fred Mouawad, Chairman and Co-founder of CI Talks, said &ldquo;What truly motivates me is seeing the acceptance and the initial impact of our videos whilst, at the same time, knowing that we have so much more potential to grow&rdquo;. Over the coming months, the CI Talks Bangkok Studio will be releasing more weekly video talks in both English and Thai language, featuring coach presenters from a diversity of industries and backgrounds. The intention is to open studios around the world, replicating the model whilst constantly expanding its audience.</p>
<p>Fred commented that &ldquo;Growing an organization is a challenge, but one that I very much enjoy and have experience in&rdquo;. The Co-founders also confirmed that video talks from both Indonesia (Jakarta) and Lebanon (Beirut) are currently in production and due for release soon; &ldquo;These are very carefully crafted initiatives and we are in the process of designing our management systems and building internal capabilities to enable our expansion into many more countries&rdquo;, says Fred.</p>
<p>CI Talks is implementing technology that will enable it to stream on-demand videos across various platforms including a bespoke mobile app (iOS and Android) that is due for release in the third quarter of 2021. This move enables CI Talks to offer innovative opportunities to advertisers and sponsors who want to reach the younger generation with instream video adverts and interactive, personalized campaigns.</p>

3 Million Video Views Inspires International Expansion

<p>Whatever our role in life, we are almost certainly likely to be working with other people at some point and it can be very important to understand what makes people tick. Salespeople and marketers, for example, need to understand what people might be thinking and how they might react to certain words and phrases or propositions.</p>
<p>Another example is acting. Actors need to be in tune with the audience to portray the right emotions at the right times. Not only do actors need to be skilled in hitting the target emotionally, but writers and directors also need to make sure that their creations have the &lsquo;human&rsquo; touch; that people can relate to them and feel the same emotions that characters are feeling.</p>
<p>This is where the role of an acting coach comes in. We spoke with well-respected acting coach Kru Ngor Rossukon about acting, and how it can give you an advantage when it comes to understanding people.</p>
<h2>Learning to Understand People</h2>
<p>Kru Ngor told us that one of the biggest challenges she faces is when writers, producers, or actors have difficulty understanding human nature. These people will often have lives that are going smoothly and have never been in the shoes of somebody who is struggling. The result is characters and situations that audiences cannot relate with, causing the audience to put up mental barriers and disconnect with the characters.</p>
<p>Kru Ngor tells us that although many people believe acting involves wearing a mask &ndash; it actually involves removing a mask you&rsquo;re already wearing.</p>
<p>Actors need to learn to examine their own actions and motivations. They need to become honest about their own behaviors and once they&rsquo;ve achieved this, they can begin to learn more about themselves and other people. It&rsquo;s not so much that actors need to fake being somebody else when playing a character, but more that they need to truthfully portray that character in certain situations and this involves learning how to understand people.</p>
<p>These skills can be applied to life away from acting in numerous ways, including:</p>
<h2>Seeing Different Perspectives</h2>
<p>Acting encourages us to look deeper into other peoples&rsquo; lives and experiences. It helps us to see that many people do have very different lives from us and that their experiences are likely to give them different perspectives to our own. Acting effectively helps us to see the world through other people&rsquo;s eyes, and understand why and how they might have different thoughts to us on certain subjects. It can be so authentic that some actors need to &lsquo;de-role&rsquo; after performing, while studies have also shown that the brain behaves differently when people are in character.</p>
<p>Being able to see different perspectives can be very beneficial to us when it comes to certain real-life situations. For example, it might help us to close a deal, or settle a customer. Being able to see things from a different perspective might also help with disagreements in relationships, and help make relationships a lot more pleasant and enjoyable for all parties.</p>
<h2>Listening</h2>
<p>Too many of us are guilty of not actually listening to what other people are saying to us. It can be all so easy for us to develop pre-conceptions of what people are likely to say or think, and act on those instead of what is really being said. Actors, however, are trained to listen more closely so they can learn how to understand people. They are also taught to look for mannerisms and behavioral clues that might tell them about a person&rsquo;s emotional state.</p>
<p>Listening properly helps to significantly improve peoples&rsquo; communications skills. Reading body language also helps actors to understand people better than they would otherwise be able to, adding a further boost to their ability to communicate with other people. Enhanced communication skills can help us improve many aspects of our lives including personal and professional relationships, while we will also become a lot more skilled at problem-solving.</p>
<h2>Self Confidence</h2>
<p>It takes nerves to get up on a stage and act in front of other people and just the thought of doing so will be nerve-racking to a lot of people. The more somebody gets used to being in front of an audience, however, the more they will get used to it and their self-confidence will gradually grow. Even otherwise timid people can eventually begin to come out of their shells.</p>
<p>Confidence isn&rsquo;t only beneficial for actors &ndash; it is also beneficial in other areas of life. Gaining confidence in social situations will help improve a lot of people&rsquo;s quality of life, while it can also encourage people to go for professional opportunities they might otherwise have passed on. Although confidence needs to be tempered with a degree of modesty, it&rsquo;s something that can help people succeed.</p>
<h2>Adaptability</h2>
<p>Actors need to be flexible. Not only do they need to be able to transform themselves into new characters, but they often also need to be able to adapt to situations in real-time as they develop. They will often need to think quickly and improvise or adapt to feedback and these are skills that take practice to perfect &ndash; and acting provides the opportunity to practice. This adaptability can be very useful in other areas of life, such as when something doesn&rsquo;t go to plan at work. While everybody else is panicking and not sure of what to do, actors can put their adaptability skills into practice to help ensure everything goes as smoothly as possible.</p>
<h2>Summary</h2>
<p>Acting is a skill that&rsquo;s developed over many years in most cases, but it&rsquo;s not only beneficial on the stage. The skills that an actor will learn can also be helpful in other aspects of life and can help with personal and professional relationships. Even if acting lessons don&rsquo;t take you to Hollywood or even get you on TV, they can teach you how to understand people in ways that will help you succeed in life.</p>

How Acting Can Teach Us About Other People

<p>Bangkok is hardly a skateboarder&rsquo;s paradise. The sidewalks are so uneven that even walking on them can be a challenge. The traffic is so heavy that it makes skating out of the question, even if you did want to be in amongst the thick exhaust fumes. It&rsquo;s not easy to find a skateboard park in Thailand, and security guards are common, making it difficult to find an ad-hoc skateboard park to use. All these factors, and more, mean that skating opportunities are limited in Thailand, but that&rsquo;s still not enough to deter some.</p>
<p>Geng Jakkarin is a professional Thai skateboarder, born in Bangkok, whose skateboard background started when he was just 9 years old. As with most other skateboarders, Geng started with a junior skateboard that helped him get started but wouldn&rsquo;t allow him to do any tricks. At 12-13 years old, Geng progressed to the kind of skateboard that did let him do tricks, and he&rsquo;s been doing tricks ever since.</p>
<p>Skateboarding isn&rsquo;t the only sport that Geng has been interested in. He used to have a sports scholarship playing basketball &ndash; a scholarship that would help to pay for his education. It&rsquo;s perhaps understandable that Geng&rsquo;s mom wasn&rsquo;t exactly over the moon when Geng said he wanted to skate. After some resistance, Geng&rsquo;s mother allowed Geng to follow his passion even if she wasn&rsquo;t entirely approving of it. Having seen where skating has taken Geng, however, Geng&rsquo;s mom is now very accepting of her son&rsquo;s passion.</p>
<h2>Getting Competitive</h2>
<p>Geng entered his first skateboard tournament when he was just 13 years old and was the first runner-up in the amateur&rsquo;s category. When he was still in high school, Geng entered a contest to qualify to represent the Thai national team at the Asian X games in Malaysia. He was the 1st runner up and represented his country on the international stage. Ever since, Geng has entered skateboarding competitions around the world, picking up the occasional trophy along the way.</p>
<p>We had the pleasure of Geng&rsquo;s company where he spoke with us about his experiences in life as a skateboarder. Not only did Geng tell us about the effect skateboarding has had on his life, but he gave us some skateboard lessons and even taught us how to do an Ollie on a skateboard.</p>
<p>Geng also gave us 5 key takeaways that can apply not only to skateboarding but also to life in general. <h2>Geng&rsquo;s 5 Key Takeaways</h2>
<h3>1. Don't Be Afraid Of Falling</h3>

<p>Skateboarding is a sport where bumps, bruises, and even broken bones are commonplace. From beginners learning how to start skateboarding, to pros learning complex tricks, it&rsquo;s almost inevitable that a skater&rsquo;s body will be meeting concrete at some point. One of the first things that many skaters learn is how to fall off a skateboard and, perhaps more importantly, how to just get right back on it again.</p>
<p>Geng himself knows this all too well and tells us of one occasion where he broke his elbow in Myanmar. Although the injury took place in the capital, Nay Pi Daw, there was still nothing that resembled a hospital nearby. Geng was driven for 2 hours to see a guy wearing a Sarong and next to nothing in terms of medical equipment. The saronged gentleman gave Geng an injection and a scribbled map to a hospital. 5 hours after breaking his elbow, Geng eventually made it to a hospital where he could get the treatment he needed.</p>
<p>Despite this experience, Geng still tells us that skaters should not be afraid of falling. No matter if you are brand new to the sport or a seasoned pro &ndash; falling off your skateboard is not failure, even if it can be painful. You need to be willing to try new things if you are going to learn and improve. Those who do fall off their boards are those who are more likely to learn quickly.</p>
<p>It&rsquo;s easy to see the parallels between falling off a literal skateboard and falling of a metaphorical one. Being afraid to fail in life in general may hold you back from succeeding; it can prevent you from learning the skills and experience you need to succeed. Falling is also not failure. It can be an important step that takes you closer to reaching your potential.</p>
<h3>2. Always Improve Yourself</h3>

<p>Geng tells us that to become a professional skateboarder you need to keep on trying to improve yourself. But Geng doesn&rsquo;t only mean practicing to improve your skills but improving yourself overall. Keep on trying to improve your concentration, your discipline, your physique and your communication skills. Focus on these in addition to technical skills and you have a better chance of making it and getting selected ahead of other people.</p>
<p>This is a lesson that we can all learn from, even if you have no intention of ever setting foot on a skateboard. We can always be better at what we do, and we can always work to be a better person. Working on our patience will help give us a better approach to life overall and improving our discipline will help us to stay on course when it might otherwise be easy to lose our way.</p>
<p>We should all do what we can to keep ourselves in good shape physically. Being in good physical shape will help our mental state no end. Good health will help to keep us feeling energized and ready for whatever comes our way, and give us the physical and mental stamina we need to keep on pushing through those tough days. We don&rsquo;t necessarily have to join a gym or eat a strict diet, but taking reasonable care of our bodies can help to make us a better, happier, and more successful person in so many ways.</p>
<h3>3. Think Outside the Box</h3>

<p>Geng believes you should not try to copy others to be a great skateboarder. Instead, you should try and think outside the box and experiment. Be creative - work to your strengths and try mixing skills and trying out new combinations. When you think outside the box as a skateboarder, you will develop a style that stands out from the rest and helps people remember you as an individual. Thinking outside the box can help anybody improve as a person and become more successful. It&rsquo;s not always necessary to conform and do what everybody else is doing. Allowing yourself to be restricted by norms can mean that your skills are not being put to good use and your talents are being wasted.</p>
<p>Also try thinking outside the box when it comes to problem-solving. What might seem impossible to begin with might actually have a fairly simple solution &ndash; if only you shake off rigid trains of thought and look for a different solution instead.</p>
<h3>4. Have 2 Versions of Yourself</h3>

<p>Geng has found it important to have two versions of himself as a skateboarder. There&rsquo;s one version where he thinks about technique and getting everything just right, and there&rsquo;s the other version that is just confident in what he is doing and goes with the flow. Away from skateboarding, it can be all too easy to get hung up on details. We can become so obsessed with the need for perfection that we forget to look at the big picture; we can forget that trying to be perfect can mean it doesn&rsquo;t get done at all and we will make no progress.</p>
<p>We are often at our best when we are confident in what we are doing and just have confidence in our ability to just go with it. Don&rsquo;t forget about the details completely. Details are still important and it&rsquo;s good to learn and practice the details when you can. But know when it&rsquo;s important to let go and just go with it.</p>
<h3>5. Stay Hungry &amp; Have Fun</h3>

<p>Geng also believes it&rsquo;s important for us to stay hungry. We need to keep on wanting to get better and improve our skills. Don&rsquo;t become content because you won a competition. Instead, focus on winning more competitions, and better competitions. Think about how to start skateboarding even better than you already are. If you don&rsquo;t stay hungry then you will stagnate. You won&rsquo;t develop any further, you won&rsquo;t get any better, and you won&rsquo;t achieve what you&rsquo;re capable of.</p>
<p>Geng also believes it&rsquo;s important to have fun in whatever you are doing. Don&rsquo;t let what you&rsquo;re doing become a chore otherwise it can become boring. If it&rsquo;s fun, you will keep your hunger and you will want to continue to keep on getting better.</p>
<p>Keeping hungry in what we do can apply to any person, no matter what they do. Whether it&rsquo;s a sport or another pastime, or your profession, keeping your hunger gives you something to look forward to.</p>
<h2>Direct Benefits of Being a Skateboarder</h2>
<p>While we can all learn from skateboarding in a metaphorical sense, we can also learn from it in a more direct sense. It is also an inexpensive and accessible sport to get involved in, with reasonable quality boards being affordable to most people and skateboard lessons aren&rsquo;t necessary. Despite scratches and bruises being common, skateboarding is also not as dangerous as you might think, with just around 2% of sporting injuries coming from the sport.</p>
<p>Skateboarding is beneficial to our mental and physical well-being in numerous ways, including:</p>

<li><strong>Relieves Anxiety</strong><br />Geng himself told us that he would focus a lot of his negative energy on skateboarding. Getting on a board and practicing tricks can be a wonderful way to release anxiety. You can forget about your troubles and, for a while at least, just do something that you love to do.</li>
<li><strong>Increases Self-Esteem</strong><br />Pulling off great tricks can help give people a real sense of achievement, especially after so many hours putting in the practice. This can give skaters a sense of achievement and give their self-esteem a boost. Not only can this help people feel better about their selves, but also in life in general.</li>
<li><strong>Increases Pain Tolerance</strong><br />Skaters are always picking up knocks and scratches but still learn to just get back on the board again. Exposure to pain helps people become more tolerant of it, helping to give them a more comfortable life overall. It can also reduce a person&rsquo;s fear of pain, encouraging them to get involved where others might step back.</li>
<li><strong>Exercise</strong><br />Skateboarding can be very hard work, making for a great workout. Muscles and the cardio-vascular systems are pushed to their limits helping to make people stronger and fitter. Good physical health is also conducive to good mental health.</li>
<li><strong>Community</strong><br />Geng tells us that, through skateboarding, he has family wherever he goes. The skateboarding community is a welcoming one, and one that is there for each other. No matter what else might be happening in their life, skaters will know that their skateboarding family is always there for them.</li>

<p>Today, on CI Talks, we are going to be talking about how you can build your self confidence. Because, trust me, the most important part of your personal development journey, and becoming the best version of yourself, relates to confidence.</p>
<h3>CONFIDENCE</h3>
<p>I define confidence simply as self-love. When you truly and completely love yourself, confidence will happen automatically and the 3 pillars of self love are Self Awareness, Self Care, and Self Development.</p>
<p>The first pillar, self awareness, is all about getting to know yourself on every level. It's analyzing yourself, introspecting, asking yourself questions about who you are, what you want and the kind of person you want to become. When you know yourself better, you love yourself.</p>
<p>The second pillar of self love is Self Care. That is all about caring about yourself on a physical, emotional, spiritual, and mental level. When you give the love to your body by eating well and exercising, when you set your emotional boundaries with people around you, when you spend time alone and when you do things that bring you joy and passion. That's real self-care.</p>
<p>And the third pillar of self love is self development. Self Development is about taking constant and consistent daily action, towards becoming the better version of yourself. Designing the ideal version of who you are, and then taking daily steps to move to become that person.</p>
<p>Without that work, you can never grow, you can never evolve. So with these 3 pillars, you can definitely have that self love which will turn into confidence.</p>
<h3>BUILDING THE BEST LIFE POSSIBLE EVERY SINGLE DAY</h3>
<p>As a child, I was very confident thanks to my parents, who always made me participate in sports, and different activities. So I definitely developed that from a young age. But, everything changed when I came to Canada, from Russia as an immigrant and it might be difficult for many people to imagine that someone who won Miss Universe suffered from low self confidence, but that is exactly what happened to me.</p>
<p>I completely lost all of my confidence, when I came, at 13 years old, from one country to another, not speaking the language, not feeling like I was enough or that I was as good as the Canadian people and I just felt like I was a stranger and I didn't belong anywhere. So that's why it took me a long time and a lot of self work to really build up that self confidence again, from the ground up.</p>
<p>When I was a kid, I remember when I was 13 years old and being in the awkward teenage years, I didn't like what I saw in the mirror. I looked at myself in the mirror and I wanted to cry. I had crooked teeth, and I needed to have braces. I had poor vision so I got prescribed glasses. I had pimples and frizzy hair, and overall I just looked like a mess and I felt like a mess on the inside.</p>
<p>So definitely, I had low self worth, low self esteem, and I felt like I was not deserving of the best life possible. That's when I knew that I needed to work on myself. I knew that I needed to change my own opinion about myself and rewrite my story and it took several years and a lot of it had to do with journaling, introspecting, asking myself difficult questions, working on my skills, taking action to become my better self.</p>
<p>But in time, I grew into the woman that I am today and I keep on improving every single day. It's a journey right.</p>
<h3>MY JOURNEY TO MISS UNIVERSE 2005</h3>
<p>So I competed for the first time in Miss Universe Canada 2004 pageant but, sadly, I didn't win. But that didn't stop me, because I knew, I still had that vision, I still had that amazing picture in my mind that one day I'll tell my grandchildren that I competed at Miss Universe and I started again.</p>
<p>I took my journal out once more, I started to prepare and put check marks on my daily goals and when I competed the second time around at Miss Universe Canada 2005, I became the winner and it was really an amazing moment in my life because not only did I achieve my goal of winning the national pageant but I also got a chance to go to Miss Universe in Thailand. So when I competed for the title of Miss Universe in Thailand, I won and it was the most incredible moment in my life.</p>

Trust in your ability and know that you can be confident and wonderful as you are. Not only is this going to improve the quality of your life and make you a happier person but you're going to send out this positive energy that's going to create this wonderful aura around you that will make you the most beautiful person to everyone you meet.</p>

Sort of design this ideal person in your mind and make a short description, in 5 or 6 sentences, who that person is.</p>
<p>Then you take that list, and maybe design it in a beautiful way, or draw it, or make it a beautiful picture, and then put it all over the house. Put it on your bathroom mirror, in your living room, on your fridge, next to your bed, so that you can see it every single day and start moving towards becoming that person.</p>
<h3>TAKE 3 ACTIONS EVERY MORNING<br />BEFORE PICKING UP YOUR PHONE</h3>
<p>Number 3. Take 3 actions in the morning, before you pick up the phone. Now its important that these actions need to be very simple and yet empowering. You need to do something that moves you towards your goals and towards becoming that best version of yourself.</p>
<p>So what I do, when I first wake up in the morning, before I give my energy and attention to other people through my phone, I do things like read a few pages or a few chapters of my book, of any book that I'm reading right now, I do some meditation and breathwork, and I listen to my empowering affirmations, to really make that into my subconscious mind and rewrite my story.</p>
<p>Now these things, they need to be something empowering to you and your goals, the kind of person you dream and wish of becoming. You need to start taking those action steps, every single day, consistently.</p>
<h3>REWRITE YOUR STORY<br />ABOUT YOURSELF</h3>
<p>Number 4. Rewrite the story that you have about yourself in your own mind. If the story that plays in your mind is very negative and disempowering, you'll always have negative things to think about yourself and you will not be confident.</p>
<p>So instead, you need to sit down with your journal, or with your recorder, and start speaking about yourself and everything that happened to you from a positive perspective.</p>
<p>Change the angle and even if you had some difficulties and challenges in your life, start writing about it as if you were the hero of your own story.</p>
<h3>DRESS FOR SUCCESS</h3>
<p>And number 5. Dress up for success. I make it a point when I wake up in the morning and I do my 3 actions, to dress myself up and look good on the outside. Because, if you spend the whole day lounging around in your pyjamas or tracksuit or sweat suit, then you're going to feel lethargic and not confident about yourself and you're just not going to feel that you're that go-getter winner.</p>
<p>But when you dress up and you take the time to do your makeup and your hair, just a little bit, and you feel good because you look good.</p>

You actually need to take those steps and when you do that you'll notice every day your confidence is going to keep growing. So one day you'll look back at your old self and say "Wow, I have really come a long way. Now I'm confident".</p>
