Country Head, Google Thailand

Jackie Wang was promoted to Country Director of Google Thailand in 2019, after joining the organization as a Brand Manager in 2014. A role model for women in leadership, Jackie is at the forefront of defining and advising on the future of work and successful hybrid work models.


Jackie Wang became the first female Country Director of Google Thailand when she was promoted in 2019. In her role, she is responsible for overseeing Google’s sales and business development operations in the country.

Her career with Google began in 2014, initially as part of the sales team in Thailand before spending a year in the US where she worked as a brand manager for key products like Nest Thermostat and Nest Cam. On returning, she was Industry Head of Google Thailand, looking after Auto and CPG clients, before her promotion in 2019 to Country Director.

Jackie took on the leadership mantle just as the global pandemic was about to take hold. Under her leadership, usage of Google services in Thailand increased dramatically. For example, in the first half of 2020, YouTube watch time in Thailand grew by 20% over the same period during the previous year.

Leading Google Thailand through the pandemic minefield, Jackie was quoted to say “Since the virus first began to spread, our focus at Google has been on making sure people have the information and tools they need”. Jackie set goals for Google Thailand in response to the pandemic designed to support a sustainable recovery:

  1. Promote Authoritative and Reliable Information
  2. Support Education and Learning
  3. Contribute to Business Continuity and Economic Recovery

Through the pandemic, she led her team to forge close relationships with government, health and education sectors, nonprofit and community organizations and business. While Google Thailand had existing and established partnerships and programmes, she was keen that they would be there to quickly respond to urgent challenges as they surfaced.

Ms Wang was instrumental in launching the Saphan Digital programme which, in partnership with the commerce ministry and industry organizations, equips Thai businesses, NGO’s and individuals with digital know-how to maximize their business and employment opportunities. She also was behind a US$800 million (approximately 24 billion Thai Baht) fund, established during the pandemic, to support small businesses by giving them access to finance, ad credits and grants.

Prior to Google, Jackie was General Manager for Commonwealth at McCann Worldgroup where she was responsible for all advertising activities in Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam and Japan for the GM Chevrolet regional hub. Her resume also includes General Manager for MRM, a digital division within McCann Worldgroup.

Jackie Wang graduated from the University of Washington with a BA in Communications. Fluent in Thai, she is an alumna of Ruamrudee International School Bangkok.
